Wednesday 6th April 2016

Yesterday we were learning about healthy habits such as brushing our teeth, washing our hands and keeping ourselves clean. We made a tree that illustrates the healthy habits we should follow.

For maths we have been learning some new maths games. We can teach you these for homelink. They are teaching us to sequence numbers and about place value.

Today we talked about germs and how they spread. We discussed that bacteria can only be seen with a microscope. We talked about how germs are tiny, little living things called microorganisms or bacteria and how there can be good and bad bacteria.
We did an experiment to illustrate how germs can spread and learnt how to correctly wash our hands to make sure we are getting rid of germs.
The children created posters about preventing germs from spreading.

For fitness we played line tag and 'flush the toilet' Mrs Farrow joined in as a tagger to try and get us all.

It was nice and sunny so we ate our brain food outside :)

We are learning Maori songs for our school Powhiri. The children got a copy of these last week :) they can be working on these for homelink :)

Today we were looking at how to give feedback and feed forward. We discussed times that we can give feedback and the correct way to give and receive feedback.
These are the ideas the children came up with about giving feedback.
  1. Say it in a positive way
  2. Give people a next step
  3. Tell people what they have done well
  4. Tell people something extra that they can do to improve
  5. Say something good and then their next step
  6. You can say 'good work'
  7. Use stars and stairs to show a positive and a next step

We are on assembly this Friday. Habitat 3 and 5 will be presenting a powerpoint presentation about our trip to the Museum.

I have added new books to the children's Sunshine Classics accounts. They have these usernames and passwords in their homelink books.
